Bénédicte was born in Belgium in 1965, moving to Britain with her family in 1980. She has been based there since, experimenting and evolving her individual talent.Inspired by nature and architecture her artwork has a distinctive strong style bursting with colour. She combines many different materials, media types and varying techniques to express form and texture. Ideas and notes are collected in sketchbooks and scrapbooks of photographs taken for reference on her travels in Britain and abroad. The work then takes place in the studio. Bénédicte’s art is representational. Once basic composition and layout has been decided, the reality is not necessary to develop the work. What is more important is the visual and sensual exploration of shapes, texture and movement. The intention is to capture an atmosphere and perception of the subject.
